We Have Liftoff
Tell us what you think about today's top story!
NASA's plans for future missions include returning to the Moon and then traveling to Mars. Would you want to live on the Moon? Would you want to visit Mars? What other places in outer space would you like to visit?

Our class would not like to live on the moon. We feel it would be too cold and there is the matter of oxygen. Without oxygen we could not breathe. This would make it very difficult to live on the moon. Being away from our families would also make us very sad. The landscape on the moon is not very nice to look at. We would miss all of the plants and beautiful scenery of the earth. With all the rocks on the moon, you might trip and hurt yourself. Maybe we will continue to live on earth. It is a much more comfortable and safe place to live.

I would love to do that mission and go in space. but it would rocky and cold. but it would be so fun to jump all over the place. I would play then go do the work.

my teacher said it would be really cool if one of his students (3rd grade) would grow up and be able to go to space.. he also said that when he was a kid he alwaysbwanted to go to space. pesonly i would love to go to space i collect rocks, gasses and liquids from the planet i would visit.

We would not like to visit the moon because it might be too dark and scary! Also, we would like to breathe :) Some of us think it would be cool to visit Saturn so we could skate around its rings.

I would like to visit the moon but not live on it. Were it shines it's really hot were there is is shade it's freezing cold. I think I would like to visit Mars,Jupiter,Saturen, and Neptune. There all very curiouse looking planets to me so to be able to visit them would be so cool! Yes I would like to visit Mars it's misterious. It's intresting because they found water tracks but no water. How weird.

I would love to live in space, there are so many reasons I would love to live on the moon. One reason is you could jump like twenty feet high, and you could see the natrual beuty of space.

I would like to go to Mars beause I could look for water and life.Another reason why I would like to go to Mars is because I could look at the diffrent land forms.

I would like to be the first one to make it to a planet.

I think that traveling to Mar's moon would be very interesting and Iwould like to go with them and intervew the astonots to know what you have to know and fo to be able to go on the mission and what is wanted on the ship so that it would be easyer to do the misson.
If I were one of them I would like to be an expert at makeing my way around the moon and how to land the ship. I would make sure that it would be to risky to land on Mars and stay on Mar's moon. A different planet that Iwould like to vist would be Saturn and long, lost pluto. The astonot that I would be on this misson is to be a good leader of the space ship and get good info about Mars and its moon

I was doing the vote for if I think that it is worth it to spend a lot of money on outer space I voted yes for how beautiful and totally amazing it is but my friend Hannah said "I voted no because it is stupid so I went to a Hubble website and saw all of the incredible pictures of outer space and voted yes 37 times more!

If I live in the moon I think it will be scary, because it looks like you are going to fall off.

If I live in Mars, I think it will be too hot and too rocky.
I will miss the beauty of earth.
Posted by: natalie | January 22, 2009 at 08:44 PM
If I went past the sun on a rocket, I think I will be dust.

I think that even though space travel may be a wee bit expensive. We have learned so much and I think that this a important part of our life and that we can use space travel to prove that almost everyting can be done. Scientist can build a bigger and better space craft that will be fast enough to get to mars in just a few days.

i will love space travel it was cool to learn what they do in space and about the space shuttle
Posted by: teyana | February 04, 2009 at 10:04 AM
space travel would be fun. (to bad we can't go to pluto)
:)

It's easy to develop plans to step outside of Earth, and what's more difficult is to solve problems within our home. What I mean is that, I'm very disturbed that nuclear weapons can kill all humanity. This is the type of threat people imagine that motivate people to move onto a space age. How many more days we have to survive on earth where we can breath fresh air?

I would get lighter tools when I traveied throgh space
Posted by: Evan | February 17, 2009 at 01:51 PM
I think just to try maybe put a plant on mars and since plants take in the air from mars its will let out oxygen for us to breath. but that should be an experiment

Traveling may be a little hard. Especially going to the moon, or Mars! But its good to see how other planets are doing. Most importanly, how our planet is doing. But seriously, living in space? Come on!

I would not like to live on the moon. Visiting Mars would be cool, in a spacesuit. I would like to visit Pluto. I think it is a planet. Who cares what the scientist think? haha. I kinda do.
Posted by: Emilee | February 19, 2009 at 09:12 PM
I would not like permanentally living on the moon, because it would feel so lonely, I meen NO SHOPPING MALL!(just kidding about the mall.) Visiting Mars would be cool, though. I would like seeing the ice they discovered and hopefully discovering more things.

I would go to pluto because pluto is so small and people don't consider it a planet so I would make pluto my planet. I would name it War Land. But you don't really do war. Then I would be able to put a big flag saying War Land. It would also say keep off. I would also put a barrier. But if you want to get past the barrier you need a password to get past the barrier. Then you have to put a finger print scan to get into the bariier completly. the barrier also has more than five hundred laries in the barrier so nobody can get through. It also it has lasers just in case for intruders.

NASA is asome. I would love to go on a space ship
Posted by: shane | March 17, 2009 at 03:02 PM
To Joseph, who commented on March 11.
Many people still do consider Pluto a planet, including professional astronomers. Only four percent of the International Astronomical Union voted on the demotion, and most are not planetary scientists. Their decision was immediately opposed by hundreds of professional astronomers in a petition led by Dr. Alan Stern, Principal Investigator of NASA's New Horizons mission to Pluto. Many of the petition signatories are working to get the demotion overturned or are ignoring it altogether. The debate over Pluto's planet status is far from over.

I would want to live on the moon by myself. I can have it all to myself. I would like to visit all the other planets except Earth. First person on Mars! I also want to live on Pluto. Smallest planet.

I would love to go to mars because I've always wanted to go on a space ship and I want to go to mars too and be one of the first people to go to mars.
Posted by: RILEY | March 18, 2009 at 01:34 PM
I would NOT like to live on the moon or mars beacause I would run out of air. It would be cool to go to satern. I would LOVE to study why it is a gas giant and the rings.
Posted by: Drew | March 25, 2009 at 03:20 PM
I like the space station and space junk? Thats cool they have junk in space too? I wonder if the astronauts have to take out the trash!
Posted by: Travis | March 25, 2009 at 03:24 PM
cool.
