This could be a real problem,I really don't know what we could do. Maybe send out a spacecraft, and clean up some of it, and take it back to Earth for studies to the damage, or keep it to rebuild another one. I'm sure our Astronaunts and scientist can figure this one out!

I can't believe it, I was sad about the Earth becoming a trash heap.(I am GREEN!!!) Now the solar system is a dump!! I am outraged! those astronauts should be ashamed, leaving BAGS of TOOLS! What are they saving them for the next trip!? One of their recent "Today's Top Story" was "is space travel what it costs, or should we use that money to help what's on the Earth?" If you ask me, the astronauts should go clean up the mess they made! Who's with me?!?!?!
Posted by: Lauren | February 20, 2009 at 01:38 AM
This could be a bad problem but it made is ok also because they can always send a new one.Now the solar system is a dump. Now there is over a billion pieces of trash in outer space.Who's with me?
Posted by: LeElle | February 20, 2009 at 09:38 AM
They should throw out vacum cleaners into space and make them suck up all the garbage
Posted by: Jordan & Dimitri | February 20, 2009 at 12:30 PM
Were is all these satellites going when we are done to the dump? No! The U.S.A will compile them and destroy them.
Posted by: christopher | February 20, 2009 at 02:04 PM
1. use large nets
2. astronauts from the shuttle clean up debris.
3. Robotic satellites automatically clean up debris (Wall-E)
4. Laser equipped satellites blast debris into space toward sun.

That is interesting that that crash was the only satelite crash. I can't believe that the trash is staying there for 10,000 years. I think somebody should go out there and clean up that trash. And I agree with the girl that says they should put vacum cleaners in space to suck up the trash.
Posted by: Alexis | February 20, 2009 at 02:51 PM
The satalites are soon going to trap us into earth.we need to keep uor space and earth clean so we can live our life in a great way.The space will soon not be safe and that is not good.Astronauts are not going to be able to go to space.
Posted by: Cecilia | February 20, 2009 at 02:55 PM
This is interesting! These are the first 2 sattelites to collide. Its very bad but its also kind of interesting. I never knew there was so much junk in space! i don't think I have that much in my garbage can!
Posted by: Catharine | February 20, 2009 at 02:58 PM
very interesting, but bad for the solar system.
Posted by: angelique | February 20, 2009 at 03:02 PM
This is very bad for our solar system. It is unhealthy!!
Posted by: Matthew | February 20, 2009 at 03:02 PM
OMG i cant belive it! 2 satelites collide now this should be in the news.that is very bad. i wonder if someone got hit in the head.
Posted by: BRANDON | February 20, 2009 at 03:04 PM
Oh my gosh! This is such a big deal. Our earth was bad enough with global warming, but now this? What's going to happen to all the inosent animals out there in the world? I think the people of the world should take more responsibility in caring for our earth. We might not realize this now; therefor most of us are taking advantage of having earth. We need to make sure we clean up this mess in the world so that earth has a bright future! Please help our earth! We need this the most now.
Posted by: Erin | February 20, 2009 at 03:05 PM
That is horrible. Those satellites should go clean up there mess they made. They should be ashamed of there selves. I think it is a good idea to send spacecraft up into space to clean that mess up. Outer space is not suppose to be a dump and is not suppose to have trash all over them, that is why we have trash cans. I also agree with the vaccuum.that would be so cool.
Posted by: Holly | February 20, 2009 at 03:05 PM
i think that their should be a mission where nasa sends astronouts in space to clean up the largest objects in space
Posted by: nick | February 21, 2009 at 12:30 AM
Okay here is a wonderful idea..DONT SEND SATELITES INTO SPACE. I think that is an AWESOME idea. People dont NEED cell phones or telivision, THEY WANT IT! I would live without a cell phone if it would stop putting debris in space!!!!!!
Posted by: Jennifer | February 23, 2009 at 09:00 AM
My idea is to get space ship and suck it up in the space ship.
Posted by: tony | February 23, 2009 at 09:04 AM
The idea that I have is for scientist to build a machine that will go out in space and suck up all the junk and take it back to earth so the scientist can destroy it with something.
Posted by: Donniel | February 23, 2009 at 09:09 AM
I DONT KNOW WAT WE COULD DO BOUT DA SPACE JUNK IN EARTHS ORBIT BUT MAYBE WE COULD TRY TO LIMIT OUR JUNK WILE GOIN INTO SPACE
Posted by: JASON | February 23, 2009 at 09:10 AM
I would send 10 space ships to get the satilites after i turn them off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: carlos | February 23, 2009 at 09:27 AM
WHAT!!!!! if NASA sends a shuttle into outer space the shuttle could have catotrofic damage
Posted by: daniel | February 23, 2009 at 09:28 AM
distroy the trash [the astronats ] or get the trash and bring it back to recycle it.
Posted by: Grace | February 23, 2009 at 09:34 AM
IM WITH LAUREN!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Jennifer | February 23, 2009 at 09:34 AM
lauren is right!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: carlos | February 23, 2009 at 09:37 AM
I am surprised there is so much junk in space. People should be more careful.
Posted by: sunny | February 23, 2009 at 11:02 AM
Why would astronauts throw their junk into space? It is not theirs. Couldn't they just wait to throw it out as soon as they land back to earth? Trained men and woman go into space, and they leave their junk behind. It is not right! We need to fix that!
Posted by: Sydney | February 23, 2009 at 05:15 PM
I can't believe it, first Global Warming and river pollution and now Earth is so dirty! I wish people could clean it up soon.... :(
Posted by: Crystal | February 23, 2009 at 11:05 PM
our world is so polluted! it isnt fair for anyone to live through that
Posted by: Y. christina | February 23, 2009 at 11:10 PM
im with lauren
Posted by: nate | February 27, 2009 at 07:21 PM
I think that we should send one GIANT vacuum into space, have it suck up the debris, then when it is finished sucking up the debris we shoot a non-explosive missile with a flat, wide surface instead of a point, into the giant vacuum and push it toward the sun and destroy it.
Posted by: Giga kid | March 02, 2009 at 11:24 AM
I am worried about space junk. We should be more careful about what we do. As for ideas, I don't have any.
Posted by: Waterheart | March 02, 2009 at 11:27 AM
I think they should get vacum cleaners to suck out the space junk and stop sending so much pollution off when they launch rockets and satellites into space.
Posted by: aen319 | March 02, 2009 at 11:54 AM
They could use other ships to try and push the stuff farther in to space.
Posted by: Mammoth | March 02, 2009 at 11:55 AM
I never knew that there was so much space junk in space. I'm glad that they are trying to clean it up. I would not want one of them to fly down and hit me. That would be scary!
Posted by: Lily | March 02, 2009 at 08:58 PM
dont litter use less water use less light
Posted by: naomi | March 03, 2009 at 07:42 PM
wow so this means that space junk is evrywere around the word yikes
Posted by: halie | March 04, 2009 at 07:19 AM
I think that the people who send out the satellites should tighten all of the stuff on it so it won't come off.
Posted by: Clifton | March 04, 2009 at 10:06 AM
An idea, i have to clean up the garbage in space, is to send a space craft there and gather up all the pieces they can and caome back to earth and demolish or recycle the left over pieces of the satalites. They should do this because, now the garbage is most likley effecting earht's atmosphere
Posted by: mrs.g- taylor | March 06, 2009 at 03:11 PM
I THINK WE SHOULD GET ROBOT TYPE SATILETES TO CLEAN UP DIFERENET TYPES OF GARBAGE.AND THEN WE COULD PROGRAM THEM TO GO SOMEWHERE FAR FROM EARTH.SO THAT THEY CAN NEVER COME BACK .THEN NASA WOULDN'T EVER WORRY ABOUT SENDING SPACE SHUTTLES INTO SPACE.AND WHILE THAT IS GOING ON ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS WAIT FOR SOME DIGITAL PICTURES FORM THE SATILATE OF MAYBE A NEW PLANET OR NEW SPACE FEUTURES.
Posted by: mrs.g/AMAR | March 06, 2009 at 03:13 PM
My idea of cleaning the garbage from space is getting some type of huge robot that flys and has a type of big vacuum and while it flies around the vaccum will suck the particles of the satelites
Posted by: Mrs.G/Jessica | March 06, 2009 at 03:18 PM
LAUREN IS RIGHT.
Posted by: MARIA | March 10, 2009 at 10:15 AM
I think that they should make a robot that will go into space and suck up bad things. I find this story very interesting. Since it will be very hard for a actual human being to clean up space, they could send a robot. I would think that it will be very big. They could make a whole lot of robots to clean up space. Then after a few years space will be much cleaner. What if some of these things came down to earth? It would probably affect us. What do you think???
Posted by: Alyssa D. | March 12, 2009 at 02:19 PM
I think this is a big problem. Maybe scientists could figure out a way to attach a huge vacuum to collect the space. I think if this doesn't work we could try to take a very powerful leaf blower sort of thing. This is what I think will get rid of the space junk.
Posted by: Noah | March 16, 2009 at 09:41 AM
wow
Posted by: sharyn | March 16, 2009 at 09:45 AM
im with lauren, they should not be littering in space!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: may-z | March 18, 2009 at 01:37 PM
I think that NASA should go out there and use a vaccum or something to suck all the trash up.
Posted by: Stella | March 19, 2009 at 03:56 PM
there should be more missions to collect trash in space because its very messy just like earth
Posted by: Derek | March 23, 2009 at 01:37 PM
i think that we should just get rid of the junk so we dont have to deal with this again
Posted by: katie | March 23, 2009 at 01:37 PM
i think that we should just get rid of it i mean what good is it up there do we need the trash up there why is it up there who put it there why has no one done anything about it it is harmful trash
? whos going to be brave and get it!!!
Posted by: janey | March 23, 2009 at 01:37 PM
i think we could go out and colloect it and try to get it out of ORBIT
Posted by: jon | March 23, 2009 at 01:38 PM
