Time to Vote!

Tell us what you think about today's top story!
Every state's voter registration laws are different. Some states require a photo ID, while in other states it is illegal for a poll worker to ask for ID. Citizens of some states use computers to vote; those in other states vote on noncomputerized machines. Establishing a national standard for voting could be the answer, but it would be expensive and complicated.
What are your suggestions for guaranteeing that everyone in America who wants to vote can and assuring that everybody's vote is counted?

What the people that collect the votes should do is keep all the votes in one big box and give it to where ever they count the votes and tally up the people that voted and make sure that they don't lose those votes.

I suggest in order to regulate voting, we should consider voting with our social security card.

I think everybody who is any body in America can vote because it is a free country. They cannot be forced to vote for somebody. If your black or white you should be able to vote.Because it is a right to vote. You should have a picture i.d. so they can only vote once.Because in some states they don't do that.so that is all of my coments.

Lindsey B.: Show your ID for all states.
Lindsey S.: Each neighborhood could have a voting booth in front of it.

States should vote the same way. In Oregon, we vote by mail. We should have to go to the post office to get our ballots and show ID because if you don't someone else could vote with your ballot.

I think they should keep it the way it is now. Every state can do what they want.

My suggestions are that after they come out of the booth they write their names down or count how many people are voting. Tally the people who voted and if there aren't the same number of tallies of people who want to vote then tell people who didn't vote to get in a line or raise their hand and then they can vote so they won't be left out=]. Or they can put tape or a note on their back that says "I already voted." and then they can go home. Like sometimes when kids are playing a game and they wanna vote on what game to play they can raise their hand and if they didn't raise their hand they can ask did you vote or not and they can say yes or no. And I guarantee that my suggestion might work if they try it. If they aren't good at keeping track of stuff or are unorganized that might help them, instead of people sneaking in and voting again. Although they could rip it off of their back or something but it wouldn't be fair because if someone wants one person to win and they don't win because someone cheated and did 2 votes on one person. They could also put a camera on them and see if they already went into the booth already, take the camera if they see them again and call the police if they did already go into the booth.

MY SUGGESTION IS THAT WE DON'T NEED TO VOTE THE SAME WAY BECAUSE IN SOME STATES PEOPLE DON'T GIVE THEIR ID BECAUSE IT IS ILLEGAL TO HAVE TO SHOW YOUR ID. OTHER PEOPLE USE COMPUTERS TO VOTE.

So that everyone can vote they should have poeple go to a person's house and ask, "Did you vote?" If they did not then the person who came to their door should give them a ballot. If they can't read or if they are blind they should read it to them.

I think that the voters should make sure that they show an ID. It might cost more, but it would assure that people are not going from one place to another to vote.

I am very glad that Obama won to be President of the USA because he will send less troops to Iraq to fight in war! We need less troops there than we do here in the US!

voter registration card or picture i.d. should do for voting.
Posted by: ellen | November 10, 2008 at 05:23 PM
I think every state should have the same voting standards because then it would be fair for everyone.
