Debate Postponed?
Tell us what you think about today's top story!
John McCain has called for the first presidential debate to be postponed while Congress negotiates an economic recovery bill. Should the debate be put on hold or maybe even canceled? Do you think the candidates could possibly do both?

I definitely think that the debate could- and should- be postponed, at least for as long as possible.

Why can't teh candidates do both? why should the debate be posponed? if mccain wants to be presidenthe should be able to handle the debate and the crisis. also, i though bush did a good job in explaining the crisis last night. i even think i might understand it and I am only 13! we should do what bush said, solve the problem and have the debate. that's part of the democratic process.

my mom says this reminds her of when the mayro of new york wanted to stay mayor past his term after 9/11. she says you cant stop the democratic process just because there is a crisis. there will always be a crisis but theer may not always be democracy unless we protect itl.

Keep the debate.
America is in a hard time and we need to hear what Obama or McCain, one who will be the next president of the United States, to tell the American people what would be their plan to deal with the crisis.
We need the debate so that they can show us the leadership role they are willing to take during this period.

I think that the debate should be posponed because we are more worried about the economy and I diagree with Berry because we need to settle this so we can move on this is like a turn in the road and we have to make a hard left so this problem does not cause any more distractions
We need to see if the candidates are more concerned about this country or about winning the race

I think John McCain is being very responsible by postponing the debate and working as a senator to help the country with the financial crisis. He is showing that he cares more about the country than politics.

I hope the debate is not canceled because they should be able to multi task the debate and other issues!

I do not think it is a smart idea to suspend the campaign. The election process is what he should be focusing on if he wants to prove himself worthy of tackling issues such as the current economic status. Tomorrow's debate is something that's going to be very influential in America's decision for our upcoming president, and I really want to know what both candidates think.

I think the debate should be posponed because we are more worried about the problems in economy. The candidates should try to solve this problem in a way of peace and that doesn't affect people.

i think that the candidates should postpone the debate because it is the first official debate and they should be focused in everything they do and if they aren't focused that can be a catastrophe.

The University of Mississippi has spent millions of dollars to host this event--getting things ready and securing the location. I hardly think McCain is helping his campaign for president by cancelling his appearance at the debate.

The people voting this time want to hear from both sides...especially the middle class...they want to hear about health care, taxes, and the economy. Our next president will have to juggle several things at once. I guess McCain can't handle Top Issues! It's b/c of the rich and greedy out there that we are in this financial crisis! Would the big banks help those who lost their house b/c of foreclosure? No, so let's not bail them out! Do unto others!

if mccain cant handle doing a debate and working on this bill, he wont be able to handle doing lots of stuff as president!mccain may be seator and think he needs to be there, but guess what? there are alot of other people out there who are doing the bill also. also, vallery, i agree. there were millions of dollars spent on this, and if mccian cancels, its just throwing away millions of dollars. just like bush threw away billions of dollars on the war... hmmm.... so now i see why mccain whent with bush 90% of the time... he throws away money just like that. if he is putting country first, he wouldnt have said that he wants to throw away millions of dollars just like that...
OBAMA RULES! HE IS PUTTING MIDDLE CLASS FIRST!HE IS GOING TO GET RID OF SOME OF OUR TAXES! all of this is going to affect our generation you know, so we might as well get rid of as much taxes as possible now so that there will be money left for us! if all our econimy goes down the toilet, it'll be kinda like the great deppression. like all the banks crash, instead of the stock market. mccain will keep troops in iraqe. why would you vote for that? i mean, the iraq people might come over here and attack us, now that we just attacked them. i mean, there were no necleur weapons! what was bush talking about? so what would you like, money left for us, or saddness and debt?

I think that McCain was using a postpone for an excuse to not go into debate in that state.
